BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College honored its 2016 senior student-athletes at the annual Senior Athletics Awards Banquet Wednesday night in Johnston Hall. Women's track & field standout Corinne Glass was named the Outstanding Senior Female Athlete while football player Anthony Orlando was honored with the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete award. The Blue & Grey Scholar Athlete awards were presented to softball student-athlete Mary Schlosbon and men's tennis player Matt Tuorto. The H.T.D. Gillespie Award for outstanding service to Moravian's athletics program was presented to Neil Schlottman.
"I am extremely proud and honored to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our exemplary senior athletes," commented Director of Athletics & Recreation George L. Bright. "In every sports program and in every corner of campus our senior athletes have excelled well beyond expectation. Congratulations to all of our seniors."

Glass, who has had an outstanding career at Moravian, was also honored as Moravian's Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Outstanding Athlete. Over the last four years, she has helped the Greyhounds to eight Landmark Conference Championships, four indoors and eight outdoors, while earning 18 Landmark Conference titles, 10 individual and eight relays, and a total of 25 All-Conference honors. Glass is a two-time Landmark Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, winning the award in both 2015 and 2016, and she also was honored at the Landmark Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year this past February.
Glass owns four individual school records, two indoors in the 400-meter dash (57.62) and 500-meter dash (1:20.10) and two outdoors in the 200-meter dash in (24.78) and 400-meter dash (56.81), and she is part of three school record relays teams, the 4x200 indoors (1:43.81), the 4x200 outdoors (1:44.07) and the 4x400 outdoors (3:57.99). Glass has put her name all over the Moravian top 10 lists with 19 top 10 individual times and another 11 top 10 relay times.
"It kind of feels really surreal when you look at all of the other senior athletes, I honestly didn't think that I would win this award," Glass said. "I am really excited and honored especially with the entire athletic department selecting me to win the award."
Orlando came to Moravian after playing at NCAA Division I Colgate University as a freshman and had an immediate impact on the Greyhounds. Orlando was third on the team with 71 tackles including 48 solo stops this past fall while helping the Hounds to an 8-3 record with the second best regular season in school history at 8-2 and a berth in the inaugural Centennial-Middle Atlantic Conference Bowl Series. Orlando led Moravian with three interceptions, and he had a total of seven passes defended to go with two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. In three seasons with the Hounds, Orlando contributed 225 tackles with 147 solo, 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, four interceptions, 10 passes defended, four fumble recoveries with two returned for touchdowns and one forced fumble.
Orlando was one of the Greyhounds' co-captains this past fall, and he made the Centennial All-Conference Team each year of his career with First Team selections in 2013 and 2015 and a Second Team nod in 2014. He was also on the ECAC Division III South All-Star First Team in 2013 and the Second Team in 2015 as well as earning a spot on the D3football.com All-South Region Second Team in 2013. Orlando is a two-time Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll recipient, and he made the inaugural Academic All-Centennial Team this past season.
"I am very honored to receive this award because there are a number of great athletes here at Moravian," stated Orlando. "To be selected by the coaches is very humbling and honoring. I also couldn't have done it without my teammates and our coaching staff."
Schlosbon has had an outstanding senior year on the softball field helping the Greyhounds to a 35-4 overall record, a second straight Landmark Conference Championship and an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament for No. 19 Moravian. Schlosbon missed the banquet with the Greyhounds on the road to Ithaca, New York for the NCAA Regionals beginning on Friday, May 13. Schlosbon, who is a team captain this season, earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second straight year after being on the Second Team as a sophomore in 2014. Schlosbon has a .341 average this spring with 42 hits, 22 runs, three doubles, three triples, five RBIs and five stolen bases.
Schlosbon has 149 hits in her career, and she was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team this spring as will be on the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll for a third straight year. Schlosbon has a 3.51 grade point average and is majoring in psychology with a minor in sociology at Moravian.
"I am extremely honored to receive the award, and I didn't expect it to happen," Schlosbon said earlier in the day before the Greyhounds departed for the NCAA Regional. "It is awesome to be recognized as an athlete and also as a student. It is cool that I can succeed on and off the field."
Tuorto is a four-year letterwinner for the men's tennis team, and he is in his third year as team captain for the Greyhounds. He has helped the squad earn the top seed in the 2016 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championship Tournament, the second straight top seed for the Greyhounds who won the inaugural title last May. This spring, Tuorto has helped Moravian to a 12-6 overall record while earning a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in singles and the Landmark All-Conference First Team in doubles with partner senior John Wylie. Tuorto and Wylie have 17 doubles wins for the second straight spring, which is the single season school record, and the duo owns the career mark with 55 career victories.
During his career, Tourto has received a total of six All-Conference honors. In addition to the two accolades from 2016, he was on the Landmark All-Conference First Team in both Singles and Doubles in 2015 and the All-Conference Second Team in doubles in both 2013 and 2014. Tuorto has also garnered spots on the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll three times and has also been an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete. Tuorto has a 3.82 grade point average and majoring in psychology and education with a minor in elementary education teacher certification.
"I am ecstatic and didn't expect to win the honor," explained Tuorto. "I thank my family, my teammates and my coaches because I wouldn't be here without them. Moravian gave me the opportunity to balance out school and sports. Everyone here from all of the coaches, the support has been great."
Schlottman began working at Moravian in 1982 as a security officer and retired as a dispatcher in 2011. He got to know many great people at Moravian, and some of his favorites were student-athletes and coaches. He is especially proud that he was able to help his daughter Ann Marie '94 attend and graduate from Moravian and that she herself was involved with the athletic teams as a student statistician.
Schlottman says being honored with the Gillespie Award is on the same level as his 10 official commendations as a Philadelphia Police Highway Patrol Officer. He is happy that he can still attend Moravian athletic events and support the Greyhound teams and coaches.
