Eight Hounds Named to USTFCCCA All-Mideast Region in Outdoor Track & Field

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Moravian College men's and women's track & field teams had eight student-athletes named as United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Mideast Region honorees this week.

The USTFCCCA is in its first year of naming All-Region selections for indoor and outdoor track & field at the NCAA Division III level after having All-Region honors in cross country for a number of years. For a student-athlete to earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to the final Track & Field Results Reporting System data or be part of a top-3 relay team. Moravian is part of the Mideast Region.

The Greyhound men had a pair of selections with senior Gavin Bailey in the long jump and graduate student Parker Munson in the shot put. Bailey made the field for the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships being hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa with a mark of 7.18 meters (23-4.75), and he is scheduled to compete on Thursday, May 26 at 5:30 p.m. CDT.

The Moravian women's team had six student-athletes earn seven honors with senior Corinne Glass earning All-Region in both the 200-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay. Joining Glass on the relay team were senior Meghan Newman, junior Lauren White and freshman Amari Schooler while sophomore Mary Kate Duncan in the javelin and junior Jackie Finnegan in the hammer throw also earned All-Mideast Region honors.

Glass and Duncan both made the field of the NCAA Championships this week. Glass will compete in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash on Thursday, May 26 at 4:45 p.m. CDT after qualifying with a school and Landmark Conference record time of 24.78 seconds while Duncan had a qualifying mark of 44.93 meters (147-4) in the javelin and will compete in the event on Saturday, May 28 at 11:30 a.m. CDT.
