BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College is looking back at the 2015-16 athletic campaign with the No. 9 story in Top 10 Stories – three Greyhounds – Parker Munson, Abbey Clark and Mary Schlosbon – each being named Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athletes for their respective sports.
The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors.
Munson was named the Landmark Senior Scholar-Athlete for men's indoor track & field back in March. He completed his Bachelor's degree in accounting in May 2015 and was working towards a Master's of Business Administration with a focus in business analytics while finishing his final year of athletic eligibility for the Greyhounds.
"I felt extremely honored to be recognized, but also grateful of the support system in my life that made that recognition possible," Munson noted. "Our coaches want us to exceed on the track and in the circle, but that always comes after success in the classroom. I also had an incredible amount of support from my family and friends to go back and compete for another year at Moravian. Needless to say there are a number of people that played a part in my success and deserve their name on that plaque just as much as I do. On top of all that, I have countless teammates who are extremely smart and hardworking that could have easily been chosen for this past year's award, and others that I know will contend for it in the future."
In February, Munson helped the Greyhounds capture their seventh straight Landmark Conference Indoor Championship, and he finished third at the meet in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw. Munson won the Landmark title in the shot put in 2015, and was runner-up in his first year with Moravian in 2014. He set the school record in the shot put with a toss of 15.70 meters (51-6.25) at the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Open on February 13, 2016 and bettered the mark to 15.77 meters (51-9) at the ECAC Championships, which is now second in the school record books.
"There are a few moments in competition that I will remember forever, but when I reflect on my time at Moravian College in general it is undoubtedly the relationships I have built over the last four years that has had the biggest impact on me," Munson said. "I am forever grateful to Moravian College for connecting me with some of the most influential people of my life."

Clark was selected as the Landmark Senior Scholar-Athlete for women's outdoor track & filed in May. She completed her Bachelor's degree in graphic design this year while finishing her final year of athletic eligibility at Moravian as the program won two more Landmark Conference team titles.
Clark earned the Landmark Conference Individual Championship in the shot put outdoors this spring with a career-best toss of 11.63 meters (38-2), and she placed eighth in the hammer with a mark of 35.63 meters (119-10). At this past winter's indoor championship meet, Clark was second in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.81 meters (45-3.75) to earn Landmark All-Conference honors, and she was fourth in the shot put at 11.07 meters (36-4).
"I think the part I'll remember most is how close my teammates and I, as well as my classmates and I were," Clark explained. "The throws team became my family at Moravian, we were always together, watching movies, going to the library and doing homework, a couple of us had days where we could get lunch together, and after practices we all, for the majority of the time, got to have dinner together, inner free time we would meet up and find something to do, and I can't forget about the track meets, my teammates were incredibly supportive of me through the good meets and the bad meets.
"I had a similar relationship with a few of my classmates as well, pulling all nighters with each other in the computers labs, on south campus and on north campus, going to the new gallery openings, and of course all the good times we had on the NY Trips for class," continued Clark. "Moravian was the kind of place that became more like an extended family, everyday I saw familiar faces and I got to know a lot of great people. I'm truly going to miss everyone, teammates, classmates, and of course the coaches, professors, and I can't forget Nancy from marketplace and Lisa from B & G."

Schlosbon was honored as the Landmark Senior Scholar-Athlete for softball in May as well. She finished her Bachelor's degree in psychology along with a minor in sociology this month while helping the Greyhounds to a second consecutive Landmark Conference title and a trip to the NCAA Division III Ithaca, New York Regional.
"Honestly, I was shocked when it was announced that I was named the senior scholar athele for softball," stated Schlosbon. "It never even crossed my mind that I may receive this award, and it is truly an honor"
Schlosbon was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second straight spring after a nod on the All-Conference Second Team in 2014. She hit .333 with 46 hits, 27 runs, three doubles, three triples and seven RBIs this season. Schlosbon finished her career with 153 hits, tied for 13th in the record books, and she was a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll and a two-time selection to the Landmark Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship Team.
"The Moravian college community has impacted my life in such a positive way," Schlosbon explained. "It has left me with so many incredible memories, and I have my teammates to thank for that. What I'll remember most is all the time I was able to spend with my teammates on and off the field."
