BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College is looking back at the 2015-16 athletic campaign with a look at the stories that just missed the Top 10 Stories with the Best of the Rest.
GOLF Places 2nd in 2015-16 Empire 8 Conference Championship
The Greyhounds opened the 2015-16 Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament with a 306 at the Timber Banks Country Club in Baldwinsville, New York on September 19 and led by six strokes after the first of four rounds. Moravian fired a 322 the next day and was in second place by 11 strokes after the second of the two rounds played in the fall. When the conference tournament resumed on April 16-17 at the Hershey Country Club, the Blue & Grey had rounds of 310 and 322 to finish second as a team. Head Coach Kevin Edwards would have three golfers earn All-Conference honors including senior Jim Maru making the First Team with a 72-hole score of 309. Maru finished in a tie for second after holding the individual lead through 36 holes. Sophomores Tyler Smith and Kevin Kunkle tied for ninth with tournament scores of 317 to earn spots on the All-Conference Second Team.

MEN'S BASKETBALL Wins 11 Games in Justin Potts' 1st Season as Head Coach
For the first time since the late 1970s, the men's basketball team had a new head coach with Justin Potts '00 taking over the program for Jim Walker. The Greyhounds played an up-tempo, pressing game over the full court for 40 minutes a contest that frustrated opponents. The Blue & Grey would average 77.4 points per game during the season, scoring 98 points twice before setting a Johnston Hall scoring record in a 107-98 victory over rival Muhlenberg College in the season finale. That win capped a strong end of the year push by Potts' squad that saw Moravian win four of its final five games to finish at 11-14. Of the losses, five were by fewer than 10 points including a one-point setback versus the University of Scranton and an overtime loss to Elizabethtown College in January. Freshman forward Oneil Holder was selected as the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year while junior forward Brandon McGuire earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team.

WOMEN'S SOCCER Plays in Landmark Conference Semifinals
Moravian finished the 2015 campaign with a trip to the Landmark Conference Semifinals after ending the regular season with a 4-4 tie at Drew University to earn the final playoff berth. In the match at Drew, Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk saw his team rally from a deficit three different times in a four-goal second half with senior midfielder Catherine Lamplugh scoring with just 2:22 remaining for the final tie. The Greyhounds would go on the road to The Catholic University of America for the semifinal match on Wednesday, November 4 where the team fell 3-0 to finish the season at 4-10-3. Junior defender Christine Miklas and sophomore defender Lauren Bertucci both earned spots on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team after the season ended.

Moravian Announces Senior Athlete Award Winners
The Greyhounds hosted the annual Senior Athlete Banquet on May 11 to honor their graduating senior student-athletes. Women's track & field standout Corinne Glass and football player Anthony Orlando were named the Outstanding Senior Athletes during the event while softball student-athlete Mary Schlosbon and men's tennis player Matt Tuorto were selected as the Blue & Grey Scholar Athletes. That evening, Moravian also presented Neil Schlottman with the H.T.D. Gillespie Award.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE Returns to Varsity Action
Moravian made a successful return as a varsity program under first-year Head Coach Kristen Schuster. The squad won its opening match of the season versus Hood College, 11-10, on February 27, and the Greyhounds put together a four-match winning streak over late March and early April for a 5-4 mark just past the midway point of the season. Moravian posted a 20-16 win versus SUNY Old Westbury in the team's only match on the grass HUB Quad Field to get to 6-5 on the year before finishing the season with a series of matches against future Landmark Conference opponents. Freshman attack Jillian Piccuto was named the ECAC Division III South Rookie of the Year, and she was named to the All-Star First Team after setting school records with 64 goals, 38 assists and 102 points. Piccuto's season assist total also set a program record for a career.
