Cross Country Teams Regionally Ranked by USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Moravian College men's and women's cross country teams have both moved into tenth place in the Mideast Region in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Regional Rankings.

The Greyhound women moved into the poll after winning the Moravian XC Invitational last Friday, the program's first home regular season meet in over 20 years, while the men were third in the meet to jump into the regional rankings.

"It was certainly gratifying for the athletes to see the recognition in the polls today," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "It's a reflection of the work they've put in, and the big strides our program has made the past twelve months, and even the past few years. With that said, it's merely an opinion poll from fellow coaches. It doesn't do the workouts or long runs for us, it doesn't run the race for us, and there is a lot that can happen between now and the championship season. Finishing in the top 10 at regionals was among the goals we talked about at our first team meeting in August, and if nothing else, this reinforces to the athletes that it's a realistic goal we should be aiming for."

Moravian's teams are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 1 at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
