BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior forwards Camille McPherson and Brandon McGuire from the Moravian College basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year by the LVSCB Organization at its final luncheon of the 2016-17 season at DeSales University.

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the six small college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III schools Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Moravian College and Muhlenberg College.

McPherson has helped lead the Blue and Grey to an 18-5 overall record and a 10-2 Landmark Conference record. The Greyhounds will play in the Landmark Conference tournament on Wednesday, February 22 versus an opponent and time that will be announced later. McPherson leads Moravian and is fourth in the nation in scoring at 24.0 points per game, and her 552 points this winter rank fifth in the Moravian record books. She also paces the squad on the boards at 9.0 rebounds per contest, and McPherson has seven double-doubles this year. She is shooting 49.3 percent from the floor, 40 percent from beyond the three-point line and 83.9 percent at the foul line. She has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week four times this season.

"Camille transferred in last year and she established herself as a big time player in our program and coming back this year she knew it was going to be rough between her and Morgan Calabrese, our two seniors and she had to play with a lot of young kids and she's had just an unbelievable year," stated Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "She can score but she can rebound too. She passes the ball as good as anybody, and the most important thing is, and we all know you guys are all the best here on each team, you have to be a team player because there are a lot of good players who can score a lot of points but I think for Camille she's really gotten the young kids to be successful and she understands for her to be successful, the team has to be successful and that's the most important thing."

Joining McPherson on the Team of the Year were Geminii Cabrera of Cedar Crest College, Morgan McCollian of DeSales University, Allison Howard of East Stroudsburg University, Kelsey Watson of Kutztown and Brandi Vallely of Muhlenberg. McPherson was named the Peter Nevins Women's Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season by the LVSCB Organization. McPherson is the fourth Greyhound to win the honor joining Alexis Wright in 2013, Kate Harrison in 2010 as a co-winner and Kelly Applegate in 2006.

McGuire leads the Greyhounds, who are 16-7 overall and 9-3 in Landmark Conference action as they prepare for their first postseason appearance since 2012-13, in scoring at 17.0 points per game and in rebounding at 9.9 rebounds per contest with 11 double-doubles this season and 29 for his career. McGuire currently ranks 13th in school history with 1,238 points and fifth in career rebounds with 712. He is also leading the squad with 15 blocked shots to go with 29 steals and 47 assists. McGuire is shooting 64.3 percent from the field, 38.1 percent beyond the three-point line and 55.3 percent at the foul line. He has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week three times this winter.

"Brandon has had two great years in the time I've been there and before I got back to campus he had two good years for coach Jim Walker," stated Head Coach Justin Potts. "He's been very consistent. You know what your going to get every night, and he's right around a double-double while shooting over 63% from the floor. The best thing is that he's an example to the young guys in our program like Jimmy Murray and C.J. Barnes and those guys about what it takes to be successful in college. He went home this past summer, and we talked about getting in better shape to run press which I don't think he really enjoys doing but he did and came back in better shape and got a little more fit and it has allowed him to play over 30 minutes a game which has really helped us. I can't thank him enough for the two years he's given us and for what he's done as far as building some pride back into the program so again congratulations to him and all the rest of the guys that were honored today."

Joining McGuire on the Team of the Year were Kuity Slanger of DeSales, Rasheed Moore of East Stroudsburg, Josh Johnson of Kutztown and Brandon LaRose of Muhlenberg. Rasheed Moore was named the Peter Nevins Men's Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season by the LVSCB Organization as he received the award for a second straight year.
