Greyhounds Look to Defend Landmark Conference Men's & Women's Track & Field Titles Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's and women's indoor track & field teams have won 17 of 18 Landmark Conference Championships since the conference began competition in 2007-08, and the Greyhounds look to defend those titles at the 2017 meet being hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m.

The Moravian women won all nine Landmark Conference Championships and enter the meet with seven top seeds in the individual events. Junior Melissa Cheong was the 2016 Co-Field Athlete of the Year, and she heads into Saturday ranked first in the high jump at 1.65 meters (5-5) and the long jump at 5.19 meters (17-0.5) while being second in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.43 seconds. Senior Meg Brockett also holds the top spot in two events with times of 10:12.34 in the 3,000-meter run and 17:20.20 in the 5,000-meter run. Brockett is the returning champion in both events while Cheong won the long jump and was the runner-up in the high jump a year ago.

The Greyhounds have two women looking to defend titles including senior Kiara Bright in the triple jump at 10.53 meters (34-6.75) and junior Beth Ann Davies in the pole vault at 3.32 meters (10-10.75) with both entering the meet with the top seed while sophomore Amari Schooler has the top time in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.41 seconds. Junior Casie Cronk is the returning champion in the high jump and heads to the meet second to Cheong at 1.55 meters (5-1) while senior Jackie Finnegan won the weight throw a year ago and enters second this season at 15.13 meters (49-7.75).

Freshman Carly Danoski heads to the Landmark meet with the third seed in both the 400-meter dash in 1:01.83 and the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.01 while junior Carly Thorpe is third in the triple jump at 9.99 meters (32-9.5).

The men's team has won the last seven Landmark Conference Championships and eight total entering Saturday's action, and the Greyhounds have six top seeds in individual events. Senior Greg Cahill, who was the Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Year last winter, has the top qualifying distances in the 35-pound weight throw at 15.49 meters (50-10) and the shot put at 14.45 meters (47-5). Cahill won the weight throw in 2016 and was the runner-up in the shot put

Senior Kahron Walker has the top marks in the long jump at 6.82 meters (22-4.5) and the high jump at 1.95 meters (6-4.75), and he is the defending champion in the high jump and was the runner-up in the long jump last year. Sophomore John Spirk enters with a top time of 8.47 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles as he tries to defend his title while sophomore Scott Goodwin has the top qualifying height in the pole vault at 4.67 meters (15-3.75).

Senior Kyle Hagerty enters the meet second in the long jump to Walker with a mark of 6.74 meters (22-1.5) while freshman Roland Cash is second in the triple jump at 13.11 meters (43-0.75). Freshman Billy DiLolle is second in the 60-meter dash in 7.07 seconds while senior Austin Gardener is third in the event in 7.15 seconds. Senior Cory Taggert enters the meet third in the 400-meter dash in 51.26 seconds while junior Andrew Mitchell is third in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:58.32 and freshman Ryan Harper is third in the shot put at 13.06 meters (42-10.25).
