28 Greyhounds to Compete at ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships on May 17-18

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's and women's track and field teams have qualified 28 student-athletes to compete at the 2017 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Track & Field Championships with 14 females and 14 males set to travel to Westfield State University in Massachusetts for events starting on Wednesday, May 17 and continuing on Thursday, May 18.

The Greyhounds continued to dominate the Landmark Conference Championships with the women winning their tenth consecutive title while the men won their ninth championship at Moravian on May 7.

Leading the women's team is junior Melissa Cheong, who enters the meet in fourth place in the long jump and tied for 11th in the high jump with junior Casie Cronk. Junior Mary Kate Duncan has the top throw in the javelin and junior Nicole Capuano is fifth in the event while senior Jackie Finnegan is fifth in the hammer throw and 21st in the discus. Junior Trista Cunningham is set to compete in both the hammer throw and the discus while junior Maggie Heft is entered in the hammer throw and junior Beth Ann Davies will compete in the pole vault.

On the track, freshman Lily Cooper is entered in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, and she is part of the 4x100-meter relay with senior Lauren White and sophomores Amari Schooler and Abigail Strouse, which enters the meet with the ninth best time. Schooler is also 14th in the 100-meter hurdles. Freshman Carly Danoski is tied for seventh in the 800-meter run while sophomore Anna Osman is set to run in the 400-meter hurdles.

Sophomore John Spirk leads the men's team on the track and enters the championships with the seventh best time in the 110-meter high hurdles and tied for 16th in the 400-meter hurdles. Senior Austin Gardener and junior Eric Morton are both entered in the 100-meter dash while freshman Greg Jaindl will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Jaindl will also compete in the 4x400-meter relay while junior Andrew Mitchell and freshmen Evan Lutz and Justin Beasley-Turner.

In the field events, junior Robert Condo enters the meet ranked fourth in the javelin while senior Michael Guarino is fifth in the javelin. Senior Kahron Walker is tied for seventh in the high jump entering the championships, and he is tied for 16th in the long jump. Sophomore Brian Stock will compete in the long jump as well while Roland Cash is set to participate in the triple jump. Junior Scott Goodwin enters the ECAC meet in the pole vault tied for tenth on the year and will be the first Greyhound to compete on Wednesday.

The ECAC meet is the final chance to qualify for the 2017 NCAA Division III National Championships next weekend. The top 20 men and top 22 women in each event and the top 18 relay teams on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list will be headed to the national meet. Moravian currently has three athletes who qualify; Duncan is second in the women's javelin while Condo is ninth and Guarino is tenth in the men's javelin. The Greyhounds have several other student-athletes that are close to the time/distance that they need to advance to the NCAA meet.
