Eight Greyhounds Selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes; Women's Squad Earns All-Academic Team Honor

Austin Grace, Mason Hudnall, Isaac Schefer, Grace Bailly, Kristen Cassidy, Destiny George, Kate Rennar and Kauren Steinert named as 2018 ITA Scholar-Athletes.

TEMPE, Ariz. --- Eight student-athletes from the Moravian College men's and women's tennis teams have been named 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes and the women's squad was also received the ITA All-Academic Team award.

Juniors Isaac Schefer and Austin Grace and freshman Mason Hudnall from the men's team and senior Grace Bailly, junior Kate Rennar, sophomore Lauren Steinert and freshmen Kristen Cassidy and Destiny George from the women's squad were named ITA Scholar-Athletes with Grace, Bailly and Rennar repeating the honor for a second straight year.

For a student-athlete to ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, they must maintain at least a 3.50 GPA, earn a varsity letter and be enrolled for at least two semesters. A total of 4,328 student-athletes across all divisions were honored with ITA Scholar-Athlete status and 735 teams earned the ITA All-Academic Team award for maintaining over at least a 3.20 GPA. All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2017 and spring 2018).

Cassidy and Steinert each earned spots on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team with Cassidy making it as part of a doubles tandem with a 10-4 mark and Steinert as a singles player after a 9-1 record including 8-0 at fifth singles. Bailly, who was 5-5 in singles action this past season, was named to the 2018 Landmark Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship Team, and she was also on the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll along with Rennar. Cassidy also had a 6-7 record in singles action while Rennar was 4-3 in singles and had five doubles victories and Steinert was 13-2 in doubles play.

Schefer and Grace were both selected to the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. Schefer and Hudnall each recorded four singles and four doubles victories this past season while Grace earned a pair of singles wins.
