The women's lacrosse team's conference postseason berth, conference academic honor rolls and All-Conference selections are the Top 10 Stories of 2017-18 Best of the Rest.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College is continuing its look back at its 2017-18 athletic campaign. The next story in the second list of the summer as part of the Top 10 Stories from the past year selected by the athletic administration is the best of the rest, three stories that didn't make our Top 10 but received votes.

 

Women's Lacrosse Earns First Conference Tournament Appearance

Moravian, which finished the 2018 season at 11-5 overall and completed the Landmark Conference regular season with a 5-2 slate, traveled to The University of Scranton for the Landmark Conference Semifinals on May 2, falling 17-10. The Greyhounds, who set a school record for wins this spring, headed to the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time in program history and the postseason for just the second time after making the ECAC Division III Tournament in 2017. The Hounds also posted the program's first-ever shutout with a victory over Juniata College in March, and the Blue and Grey scored at least 17 goals in each of their 11 victories including five matches with more than 20 goals.

 

152 Greyhounds Named to Conference Academic Honor Rolls

The Greyhounds had 152 student-athletes selected to the Landmark Conference and Centennial Conference Academic Honor Rolls with 144 from the Landmark Conference and eight football players in the Centennial Conference. In addition, two Hounds women's soccer standout Lauren Bertucci and javelin All-American Mary Kate Duncan were named Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athletes in their sport while junior Nick Zambelli was selected as both the Centennial Conference Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Centennial Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

 

128 Greyhounds Earn All-Conference Honors

Moravian had 128 student-athletes garner All-Conference accolades during the 2017-18 academic year including 125 Landmark All-Conference honorees and three Centennial All-Conference selections in football. A total of 73 Greyhounds earned First Team All-Conference Accolades. The group included eight Landmark Conference Athletes of the Year and three Landmark Conference Rookies of the Year, which was No. 9 on the Top 10 Stories of 2017-18 – read more at https://www.moraviansports.com/general/2018-19/releases/20180709huil3d.
