Gordon Rupert '66 - New Hall of Fame inductee

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Gordon E. Rupert '66, a former men's tennis player, is being inducted into the Moravian College Athletic Hall of Fame on November 9, 2018 in Johnston Hall beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Rupert, who graduated in 1966, was a standout on the hard-court with the men's tennis team for three years after beginning his collegiate career at Franklin & Marshall College. While playing for the Greyhounds, Rupert won the ECAC Doubles Tournament at Rider with George Kelhert in 1964 before helping Moravian capture the 1965 Middle Atlantic Conference Northern Division Championship with a 9-2 mark at first singles. The 1965 squad was 9-1-1 before falling to Swarthmore College for the overall MAC title.

As a senior in 1966, Rupert, a Bethlehem native and member of the Liberty High School Hall of Fame, was undefeated at No. 1 singles and helped the squad to a 10-1 record. He was also seeded third in the MAC Individual Tournament before falling to a player from Lehigh University, and Rupert was also Moravian's Most Outstanding Senior Male Athlete in 1966.

Rupert is being joined by women's soccer player Megan J. Collins Spangler '06; football student-athlete Dominick A. Cusumano '98; cross country and women's track runner Kristie Reccek Fach '99; football player Robert Hennessy '96; former coach and administrator Dawn Ketterman-Benner; and men's soccer player Greg D. Witt '88 in the class of 2018 that will be inducted into the Moravian College Athletic Hall of Fame. The 2006-07 women's tennis team that was coached by Ketterman-Benner will also be inducted that night while Robert E. Kafafian '77 will receive the Robert Martin Herbstman Award.
