TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has recognized 366 student-athletes including 52 from Moravian College by selecting them for the 2018 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions.
The Landmark Academic Honor Roll recognizes all fall student-athletes of sophomore standing or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The student-athletes must complete the fall season in good standing with their team. The Fall Academic Honor Roll begins the academic award season for the conference with the Senior Scholar-Athlete for the fall sports to be named later this month.
Moravian had student-athletes from all six of its fall teams that compete in the conference with the field hockey program leading the way with 15 honorees. The women's soccer team had 12 selections while the women's cross country squad has 10 student-athletes selected. The men's soccer and men's cross country programs registered six honorees each while the women's volleyball squad had three.
The field hockey squad placed seniors Emily Duddy and Elizabeth Hrehovcik, juniors Devyn Lapp, Ashley Magee, Olivia Schlofer, Elisa Silecchia and Hayley Wrazien and sophomores Mae Dienes, Talea Gordon, Nicole Grayuski, Erica Heaney, Zoe Karvan, Ashley Kunsman, Sabrina Masone and Courtney Nealon on the Academic Honor Roll. Gordon was also selected to the 2018 Landmark All-Conference Second Team while Hrehovcik was named to the 2018 Landmark Conference Fall All-Sportsmanship team. Duddy is a three-time Academic Honor Roll selection.
The women's soccer team posted a 9-5-2 record this season and earned a berth in the 2018 Landmark Conference Tournament. The Greyhounds placed three seniors Shae Duka, Paige Kovacs and Gabby Stelzmiller, junior Paige Weiss and sophomores Oonagh Breen, Cat Cole, Ashley Hutchinson, Val Monaco, Erin O'Sullivan, Kylie Rayher, Emily Renner and Skylar Vaughan on the Academic Honor Roll. Stelzmiller was selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team while Duka and Weiss each made the All-Conference Second Team. Kovacs was named to the 2018 Landmark Conference Fall All-Sportsmanship squad while Duka and Kovacs are both three-time Academic Honor Roll selections.
The women's cross country squad was the runner-up at the 2018 Landmark Conference Championships and placed senior Alyssa Limbaugh, juniors Carly Danoski, Marlee Hornbaker, Katie Mayer, Shayne McNally and Rachel Mikols and sophomores Grace Gilbert, Nora Grimm, Natalie Novotni and Molly Talarico on the Academic Honor Roll. It was the third selection for Limbaugh. Novotni was named the Landmark Conference Women's Performer of the Year after winning the individual title and she was joined on the All-Conference First Team by Mayer while Danoski was selected to the All-Conference Second Team.
The men's soccer squad finished 2018 with a 7-9-2 record while playing in the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time in conference history, and the Greyhounds had seniors Armando Gonzalez and Michael Guarino and sophomores Alec Aloia, Ethan Blakely, Michael Feeley and Riley McHugh named to the Academic Honor Roll.
The men's cross country team was third at the Landmark Conference meet and had one senior Aaron Hofmann, four juniors Devon Fogel, Gregory Jaindl, Gavin Kemery and Alex Tursi and sophomore Peter Gingrich each being honored. Hofmann earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll for the third straight fall. Jaindl and Kemery were named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team with top seven finishes at the Landmark Championships.
The women's volleyball team had senior Erin Tiger and juniors Victoria Kauffman and Alexis Szaro named to the Academic Honor Roll. Tiger made the Academic Honor Roll for a third straight fall.
