Marty Moyle

How did you get into your field? A perfect storm dating as far back as managing five sports teams in high school, later becoming a cross country and track official, working in my dad's office during high school, and a campus office during college, with a number of additional office positions throughout the years.

What is your favorite part of working at Moravian College? The student-athletes! Getting to know them throughout their careers and seeing them succeed in the classroom and on the court and field. Having them come back after graduation to visit. (Forever a Greyhound!)

What is your favorite place on campus? The pleasure grounds on South Campus. I really miss the band shell and former open green space that is now occupied by the HILL.

What is your most memorable moment at Moravian? There are several – Vespers, always! The running of the greyhounds (dogs) on the football field leading the Greyhound team into the stadium.

What is the best piece of advice you've been given? "See what needs to be done, and do it, and do it better than is expected of you."

Who are your role models/most influential people? My dad, and my former coach, Ron Sprecher. Neither one of them ever told me that I couldn't do something just because I was a female. They simply allowed me to tackle a challenge and succeed.

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with? Martha Gellhorn (war correspondent and novelist, my WWII impression), Thomas Sowell (social historian and economist), and Lucy Worsley (historian and author).

What have you done more of since March that you wouldn't have if sports had not been postponed? Ugh. So many Zoom meetings. Cooking from scratch. Working on "house" projects. Reading. Sewing historical period attire for reenactments.

If you weren't in your current position, what would you be doing? Volunteering for the Gary Sinise Foundation. Fostering kittens for shelters, getting them ready for adoption.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise most people. I was an interior designer for 15 years. Also, I rob trains.....(with my Wild West reenactment group, for charity)
