BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The next non-coaching staff member in the Moravian College Department of Athletics & Recreation's Get to Know series is Assistant Athletic Trainer Patrick Roche, who is in his second year with the Greyhounds.
How did you get into your field? As a former collegiate athlete, I spent my fair share of time with the sports medicine team as my career went on. Near the end I started to realize the importance and value of having a team dedicated to keeping the athletes healthy and on the field, but who were also there for you in a time of need.
What is your favorite part of working at Moravian College? I really enjoy the interactions I have with the student athletes as well as the coaches. Even if it is a quick passing comment, or a more formal conversation, everyone at Moravian makes an effort to get to know you for more than your position as an employee. (If you choose to use this for anything, you can make that sound better if you have to lol).
What is your favorite place on campus? I would have to say Makuvek Field. Besides the AT room, that's where I spend most of my time and have most of my interactions with members of the Moravian Community, outside of my direct co-workers.
What is your most memorable moment at Moravian? Having worked with an athlete through the rehabilitation process and then seeing them return to the field/ court.
Which people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with? Barack Obama, Leo Messi
What have you done more of since March that you wouldn't have if sports had not been postponed? I built a computer, which isn't something I do regularly, but definitely would not have done that before. Consistently, I have spent more time with friends and reconnected with others who I normally would not have. It's been enjoyable.
If you weren't in your current position, what would you be doing? Probably working some 9-5 job looking for my next vacation.
