142 Greyhounds Honored on 2021 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll

TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference announced its 2021 Spring Academic Honor Roll selections today, with 1,203 student-athletes receiving recognition including 142 from Moravian College. The Honor Roll recognizes all winter and spring student-athletes who have reached sophomore standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher.

In a change to the Landmark Conference awards structure that begins in 2020-21, the spring semester academic honor roll now includes all spring sports as well as men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving, and men's and women's indoor track & field.

Moravian had student-athletes from all 13 of its winter and spring teams that compete in the conference with the women's track & field program leading the way with 45 honorees including 23 outdoors and 22 indoors. The men's track & field team had 28 total honorees with 14 both indoors and outdoors while the women's lacrosse squad had 14 selections and the baseball team had 11 student-athletes selected. The women's basketball and softball programs each registered nine honorees followed by the women's tennis squad with eight. The men's lacrosse team had seven student-athletes honored followed by the men's basketball program with five and both the men's tennis and golf squads with three including one student-athlete that competes for both teams.

The women's track & field team won the program's 13th Landmark Conference outdoor championship in May as the Greyhounds have won every conference outdoor meet. Of the squad's 23 outdoor academic honor roll nominees, there are 10 seniors including Cat Cole, Jenevieve Eberly, Grace Gilbert, Tatiana Lopez, Alison Nicolosi, Natalie Novotni, Emily Renner, Molly Talarico, Morgan Weaver and Camaryn Wheeler. The list also includes juniors Mackenzie Heitz, Alyssa Lambert, Emma Marion, Rachael McCoach and Natalie Stabilito and sophomores Rachel Byrne, Elizabeth DeMassa, Peyton Herbst, Crystal Robinson, Haylee Saylor, Emily Wells, Maddie Wickel and Delaney Wiseman. Everyone on the list except for Wiseman, who only competes in the javelin outdoors also received the honor for the indoor season.

The women's lacrosse squad finished the shortened season with a 6-5 overall record and the program's first-ever Landmark Conference Tournament victory. Seniors Maecy Chlebowski, Olivia Clearie, Breanna Federico, Courtney Heist and Danielle Sullivan, juniors Samantha Cherenson, Eliza Fantazzi, Eirean Perst and Lindsey Strohl and sophomores Megan Donnelly, Brelyn Friedman, Emily Hoskin, Devin King and Olivia Schmid were named to the Academic Honor Roll.

The men's track & field team was the runner-up at the 2021 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships and had seniors Peter Gingrich, Shane Mastro, Sean McFarland and Derek Scott making the Academic Honor Roll both indoors and outdoors. Also earning a spot on the list for both seasons were juniors Brad Clemson, Dominic DeRafelo, Richard Glennon, Shane Houghton and Michael Lerch and sophomores Ethan Cherubin, Liam Duffy, Christian Jancsarics, Dan Jenkins and Kyle Smilon.

Moravian's baseball program earned the fourth seed in the 2021 Landmark Conference Tournament and finished the year at 13-17 after an opening round victory. Seniors Rodney Berger, Brett Moyer and Thomas Philipps, juniors David Bertolotti, Nick Montone and Robert Roman and sophomores Derek Holmes, Stephen Hoyer, Garrison Koch, Chris Pow and Ethan Weber all received Academic Honor Roll accolades.

The women's basketball team was 6-4 during the abbreviated season this past winter and won the opening game of the Landmark Conference Tournament as the fourth seed. Seniors Raquel Lopez de Boer and Paige Stitzel, juniors Alix Buskirk and Kayla Yoegel and sophomores Madison Amy, Morgan Amy, Jackie Kelly, Emily Markowski and Ashley Robinson garnered spots on the Academic Honor Roll.

The softball squad captured the program's ninth Landmark Conference Championship in May while earning the team's 18th NCAA Division III Tournament. The Greyhounds finished the year ranked No. 23 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 with a 31-3 record, setting program records for highest winning percentage at .912 and fewest losses. Seniors Meghan Bauer, Maddisen Bieber, Shannon Brogan and Brooke Wehr, juniors Nicole Cassano, Victoria Smith and Chloe Tice and sophomores Alexis Agrapides and Madison Hummel all earned spots on the Academic Honor Roll.

The women's tennis team posted an 11-1 overall record this spring while winning its second straight Landmark Conference title and making a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament where the Greyhounds won a first round contest. Seniors Brooke Adams, Emma Angle, Mary Angle, Kristen Cassidy and Destiny George, and sophomores Julianne Cassady, Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone each receiving a nod on the Academic Honor Roll.

The men's lacrosse program appeared in the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time in program history in 2021, and the Greyhounds earned a first round win for the program's first-ever postseason win to finish at 5-7 in the shortened season. Seniors Tanner Leslie and Max Towers, juniors Liam Dugan, Nathan Hannis, Connor James and Griffin LeBlond and sophomore Jack Bakey made the Academic Honor Roll.

The men's basketball squad had sophomores Nate Dougherty, Greg Eck, Ricky Melosky, Tyler Mozelski and Joe Paulillo selected to the Academic Honor Roll.

The men's tennis team and men's golf squads shared sophomore Andrew Hozza, who participated in both sports for the second year, on the Academic Honor Roll. Senior Mason Hudnall and sophomore Justin Szaro from the men's tennis program and seniors Kody Kolnik and Thomas Lakata from the men's golf team also earned Academic Honor Roll accolades.
