Moravian Hosts Nitschmann Student vs. Staff Game

Nitschmann Middle School students vs. staff basketball game in Johnston Hall

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College hosted the student body from Nitschmann Middle School in Johnston Hall on Thursday in the school's student versus staff basketball game and pep rally to celebrate the end of PSSA testing.

The sixth, seventh and eighth graders and staff from Nitschmann walked over to Moravian's campus for the game that began at 10:00 a.m. The contest consisted of four, eight-minute quarters with the female students and staff playing the first four minutes of each quarter and the male students and staff playing the second half of each quarter.

The staff at Nitschmann includes three Moravian graduates – Tanya Thear Hood '95, a member of Moravian's Hall of Fame for her softball and field hockey career, Craig Downey '91 and Rick Landino '99, who both played football. Moravian senior wide receiver and current student-teacher at Nitschmann Sam Boyer served as one of the two referees in the game.
