Dr. Nicole Loyd is the Executive Vice President for University Life, Chief Operating Officer and Dean of Students at Moravian College; she found her “home” at Moravian in 2008.

Loyd provides direct or indirect supervision for all administrators within the areas of: Accessibility Services, Athletics, Campus Police, Career & Civic Engagement, Counseling Center, Dining, Event Management, Greek Life, Health Center, Housing, HUB, New Student Orientation, Residence Life, Spirituality & Inclusion, Student Development, and Student Engagement (200+ staff).

A first-generation college student, Loyd is committed to the student experience and serving marginalized populations. She grounds all of her work in understanding, embracing, and helping to shape campus cultures.

With the Athletic Department, Loyd has served as a guest coach for several programs and attends many of the home contests on campus or follows the teams online through the Greyhound Sports Network, and she also travels to see the Greyhounds play on the road.

She also oversees Moravian’s emergency response policies, protocols procedures, and programs and initiate emergency response when necessary. Loyd operationalizes the University’s Strategic Plan as part of her EVP/COO responsibilities.

In addition to her responsibilities at Moravian, Loyd serves as a consultant inside and outside of higher education. Recently, she worked with a University in New Jersey for 18 months to guide the senior leadership through the creation and implementation of their next Strategic Plan; and is a frequent guest speaker on the topics of generations and emotional intelligence at colleges and universities, corporations, and associations throughout the United States.

Loyd earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Virginia (2005) and Bachelors (1995) and Masters Degrees in Education (1999) from Bucknell University. 

Loyd played water polo at Bucknell, and the team was ranked 7th in the nation her sophomore year. She was the starting goalkeeper during her time at Bucknell and earned recognition as the goalkeeper for the First Team All-East her sophomore year.
