L.J. Smith returns to his alma mater in 2023-24 as assistant coach for the golf program. Smith worked as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications for the Hounds from July 2021 until September 2022 before heading to Lehigh University as Senior Associate Director of Athletic Communications. Smith spent three and a half years as the Director of Athletic Communications at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, and prior to his tenure with the Falcons, Smith spent the fall 2017 semester as a post-graduate intern at Moravian following two years on the Greyhounds' staff as an undergraduate student worker.

During his time at Cedar Crest, Smith helped with a full redesign of the department's website and increased usage of social media platforms. He also developed an online store for the Falcons while handling all aspects of athletic communications.

As an undergraduate for Moravian from 2015-2017, Smith was the voice of the Greyhound Sports Network for Moravian's live video streaming platform and also developed the logo for the network. As part of his duties in his return to the Greyhounds, Smith will look to enhance the graphics packages that Moravian will use on over 100 live events throughout the upcoming academic year.
