Over the last decade, Blue & Grey Field has seen a vast number of improvements, first with the installation of permanent dugouts and a batting cage, to permanent fences down the foul lines and new sod. Prior to the 2006 season, a six-foot permanent outfield fence was installed to enclose the playing area and a warning track was installed inside the fence around the entire park. Also, more seating was added and new major-league style benches were mounted in the dugouts.

In 2011, Blue & Grey Field won the 2011 Stabilizer Solutions/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Field Maintenance NCAA Division III Field of the Year Award. Read more here. In early 2012, Blue & Grey Field was named a 2012 Field of Distinction by the Keystone Athletic Field Managers Organization. Read more here.

During former head coach John Byrne's tenure as coach and with Randy Haffling overseeing the grounds staff, Blue & Grey Field has gone through major changes since Byrne coached the program from 1994 to 2022.

The field has gone from just a skinned infield that was also used as the practice football field, to a softball-only facility that has a seven-foot outfield fence, a 30-foot high backstop, dugouts, a full warning track and new bullpens added for 2012. The dirt on the field has also gone from a rough, sand lot type of material to a professional mix of infield including Hilltopper products in 2011 that allowed the field to remain playable for games and practices through one of the wettest springs in years.
