O'Rourke & Weinert Named to Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team

Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Media Organization Scholar-Athlete Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Sophomore Katie O'Rourke (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) and junior Mike Weinert (Allentown, PA/Parkland) from the Moravian College basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Month for January by the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization at its second luncheon of the 2011-12 season at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem.

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the seven small college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III schools Cedar Crest College, Delaware Valley College, DeSales University, Moravian College and Muhlenberg College.

O'Rourke, a guard, has helped the Moravian women open the year with a 10-6 overall record and a 3-2 mark in Landmark Conference action in her second year as a starter. O'Rourke has started 13 of the 14 games she has played in. She averages the second most minutes on the team with 26.9 per game. O'Rourke leads the squad with 31 steals to go with her 9.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. She also has 30 assists. She recorded her first career double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) versus Drew University on January 14th, 2012.

Joining O'Rourke on the January Scholar-Athlete Team of the Month were Lizzy Sunderhaus from Cedar Crest, Sarah DelCasale of Delaware Valley, Colleen Gavin from DeSales, Andrea Veres of East Stroudsburg, Avery Hodgson from Kutztown and Katy Rossino of Muhlenberg.

Weinert, a forward, has helped Moravian men to an 8-8 start and a 3-2 record in Landmark Conference play. He is in his third year on the varsity squad, and has played in eight games this year. He tied his career high in points and rebounds in a win over SUNY Cobleskill at the Scotty Wood Tournament on November 19th, 2011. He also tied his career high in rebounds versus Drew University on January 14th, 2012.

Joining Weinert on the January Scholar-Athlete Team of the Month were Nathan Bollinger of Delaware Valley, Brett Moyer from DeSales, Dan Clapp of East Stroudsburg, Nate Edwards from Kutztown and Austin Curry of Muhlenberg.

The next Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem.
