Hann & Weinert Named to Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Junior Alyssa Hann and senior Mike Weinert from the Moravian College basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Month for January by the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization at its second luncheon of the 2012-13 season at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem.

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the seven small college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III schools Cedar Crest College, Delaware Valley College, DeSales University, Moravian College and Muhlenberg College.

Hann, a guard, has helped the Moravian women open the year with a 14-2 overall record and a 5-0 mark in Landmark Conference action. Hann missed the first nine games of the season due to an injury. Since returning, she is averaging 13.6 minutes per game while putting up 22 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists and 12 steals.

Joining Hann on the January Scholar-Athlete Team of the Month were Katelyn Donohue of Delaware Valley, Colleen Gavin from DeSales, Barb Borst of East Stroudsburg, Avery Hodgson from Kutztown and Julie Kelly of Muhlenberg.

Weinert, a forward, has helped Moravian men to a 9-6 start and a 2-3 record in Landmark Conference play. He is in his fourth year on the varsity squad, and has played in 13 of 15 games this year. He had career-highs in points with six and rebounds with five in the first game of the season versus Elms College (11/16/12). Weinert is averaging 8.3 minutes per game this winter.

Joining Weinert on the January Scholar-Athlete Team of the Month were Jay Donovan of Delaware Valley, Matt Poorman from DeSales, Dan Clapp of East Stroudsburg,Ryan Connolly from Kutztown and Ryan Lagomarsino of Muhlenberg.

The next Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12th, 2013 at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem.
