Four Hounds Named to Landmark Winter All-Sportsmanship Team

TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has selected 43 student-athletes to be named to the Winter All-Sportsmanship Team. The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team.

The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. The student-athletes selected demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. They are ambassadors for the team, both on and off the field, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.

Of the 43 student-athletes on the All-Sportsmanship Team, 14 were named All-Landmark. Many of the student-athletes are leaders and influential members of their teams, campuses and communities.

The All-Sportsmanship Team was created by the Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in 2013 as a way to highlight student-athletes who are making an impact. The Landmark previously awarded a Sportsmanship Cup before the All-Sportsmanship Team replaced the Cup for the 2013-14 academic year.

Men's Basketball

Sophomore forward Matt Bosch is the men's basketball team's selection to the All-Sportsmanship Team. He averaged 9.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for the Greyhounds, and he added 21 steals and 19 assists. Bosch started 20 of the 21 contests he played this winter, missing four games with injuries, and he netted a career high 27 points on December 1 when Moravian defeated Berkeley (N.J.) College, 83-79.

"Matt competes very hard but always with a sense of fairness and respect towards our opponent," said head coach Jim Walker.

Women's Basketball

Senior forward Laura Jordan has been named to the Landmark All-Sportsmanship Team as the representative for Moravian women's basketball. Jordan was named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team after averaging 8.1 points and a team-high 5.4 rebounds per contest. She also had a career high 98 blocked shots, which helped rank her sixth in the nation this season with 3.63 blocks per game, as the Greyhounds led the nation at 8.55 blocked shots per game. Jordan, who was also named to the Landmark Academic Honor Roll for the third straight year, completed her career second all-time in blocked shots with 198 and 17th in rebounds with 528 in 112 games (tied for seventh in the record book. The only game Jordan missed in her career was the season opener last November as she remained in Bethlehem to finish her student-teaching assignment for the week as the Greyhounds travelled to Texas.

"Laura, from day one of her freshman year through her last game as a senior, has been cooperative with her coaches, supportive of her teammates and respectful of her opponents," said head coach Mary Beth Spirk. "She plays hard, she plays tough, and she always plays fair with an air of value for the competition. Laura is the ultimate sportswoman."

Indoor Track & Field

Junior Mike Hofmann is the 2014 men's indoor track & field selection to the Landmark All-Sportsmanship Team. Hofmann competed in the 60-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dashes during the indoor season for the Greyhounds, and he helped Moravian win its fifth consecutive Landmark Championship.

Junior Emily Lambright has been named to the All-Sportsmanship Team from the women's indoor track & field program after also earning the honor for the women's cross country squad. Lambright earned All-Conference Second Team honors at the 2014 Landmark Indoor Championships with runner-up finishes in the mile and 3,000-meter runs as Moravian won its seventh straight Landmark title, and she was named to the Landmark Academic Honor Roll as well. Last weekend, Lambright ran personal bests in each race at the ECAC Division III Indoor Championships.

"Mike and Emily exemplify what it means to be a sportsman," said head coach Jesse Baumann. "Both are extremely knowledgeable respectful of their competition. I often see them talking to and encouraging their competitors before and after their events, even during key meets. They both set great examples for others and represent Moravian well."
