Moravian Hosts Another College Connect with William Penn

2014 College Connect Day in Breidegam Fieldhouse to teach sports skills

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- For the second time this academic year, Moravian College hosted nearby William Penn Elementary School students in a College Connect program Thursday morning.

The fourth and fifth graders from William Penn made the block walk over to Moravian and split into groups that spent time in Collier Hall of Science, the Reeves Library and the Timothy Breidegam Athletics and Recreation Center. The College Connect program is sponsored by Moravian's Center for Leadership and service.

When the students were in the ARC, they worked with Head Women's Soccer Coach Brienne Smith, Head Field Hockey and Assistant Women's Coach Amy Endler and Head Women's Volleyball Coach Shelley Bauder along with a number of Greyhound student-athletes in four stations. They dribbled a soccer ball before shooting, ran a small obstacle course, played basketball and played volleyball with each student from William Penn getting a chance at each station and to work with the Moravian athletes.
