Damewood Leads Discussion Group at 2014 AEMA Convention

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Moravian College Equipment Manager Darren Damewood combined with Chad Widmer from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor (Texas) to lead the NCAA Division III equipment managers breakout discussion group at the annual Athletic Equipment Managers Association Convention in Jacksonville, Florida earlier this month.

The group led by Damewood and Widmer for the second straight year, discussed issues facing Division III equipment mangers including topics on adding sports, junior varsity programs, online team vs. school stores, logos and potential licensing issues, the importance of mandatory certified equipment managers in Division III along with other topics.

Damewood helped start the breakout discussion group after coming to Moravian from Division I and working with the television show Friday Night Lights for five seasons. He noticed differences on how each level did things and felt it would be good to get the Division III equipment managers together to discuss similar issues.
