Lambright Named to Capital One Academic All-America Second Team for DIII Women's Cross Country & Track & Field

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College junior Emily Lambright has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America NCAA Division III Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team.

To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-America® accolades, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Beginning in 2011-12, the program is made up of four levels – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division (NAIA, Canadian colleges and junior colleges). Lambright made the All-District IV First Team to advance to the national ballot, and District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Lambright is Moravian's 42nd Capital One Academic All-American®.

"Emily exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "She is one of the most disciplined athletes on our team and serves as a leader by example of how to train not only when the coaches are overseeing practice, but how to properly prepare in the off-season. It's no surprise that those disciplinary characteristics translate over to the classroom as well with Emily holding a 4.00 GPA. Emily is a great representative of our track/cross country program, Moravian College, and what it means to be a Division III student-athlete."

Last fall, Lambright earned a spot on the 2013 Landmark Cross Country All-Conference First team with a seventh place finish as she helped the Greyhounds win their second Landmark title in three years. She posted a top 6,000-meter time of 23:09 at NCAA Division III Mideast Regional this past November. Lambright made the All-Conference Second Team in 2011 as well, and she has helped the Greyhounds to eight Landmark titles in her eight nine seasons over cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.

On the track, Lambright earned spots on the All-Conference Second Team for runner-up finishes in the mile and 3,000 meter runs indoors, and she made the Second Team outdoors with a second-place showing in the 5,000 meter run during the 2013-14 seasons. Lambright was named to the 2013-14 Landmark All-Sportsmanship Teams during all three seasons, and she has been named to the Landmark Academic Honor Roll six times and was on the 2012 Landmark Fall All-Academic Team. When she isn't competing, Lambright is the finance chair for Moco for Coco, and she plays the principle oboe in Moravian's orchestra. Lambright is majoring in economics and political science.
