BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Before Moravian College unveils its top highlight from the 2013-14 athletic campaign in the Top 10 Exciting Games & Fantastic Finishes – here is a list of other games that didn't make the top 10. The number one highlight will be announced on Monday, July 28.

 

Softball Walks Off on Home Run to Split with Misericordia

The Greyhounds earned a split of a non-conference doubleheader versus Misericordia University at a cold and windy Blue & Grey Field on Sunday, March 23 as junior first baseman Jenn Dalickas connected on a two-run, walk off homer to centerfield giving Moravian a 4-3 win in the second game. The Hounds had an early 2-0 lead after senior second baseman Eavan Matz hit her first career home run to left field in the second inning.

Volleyball Rallies from 0-2 deficit to Beat Goucher

Moravian opened its 2013 Landmark Conference season versus Goucher College in the first Landmark Round Robin Weekend at Susquehanna University on Sunday, October 6. The Hounds trailed the Gophers 0-2 after dropping the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-17. Moravian responded by taking a close third set, 25-23, and the Greyhounds tied the contest with a 25-19 win in the fourth set. The Hounds would capture the match by a 15-11 score in the final set. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Hostetler led the squad with 20 kills while freshman middle blocker Taylor Kornmann added 14 kills.

Men's Soccer Knocks Off Wesley in Overtime

The Greyhounds hosted Wesley College in a non-conference match on the HUB Quad as part of a warm and sunny Family Day on Saturday, September 21. Moravian had played a pair of double-overtime matches that ended in ties over the previous seven days, and the Hounds were trailing the Wolverines, 1-0, late in the match. Senior forward Jeffrey Algor finally tied the match at 1-1 in the 87th minute and force overtime for a third straight contest. Freshman forward Saul Marcial made sure there wouldn't be another tie that Saturday afternoon, scoring his second game-winning goal of the year 7:47 into the first overtime.

Softball Sweeps Muhlenberg to Clinch Matte Award

The Hounds headed over to Allentown on Thursday, April 10 needing just a split with rival Muhlenberg to clinch the Matte Award outright for Moravian for the first time since 2002-03. The Greyhounds responded with a sweep of the Mules, taking the first game 5-1 and the nightcap 2-1. Senior Elizabeth Tillou and junior Lizze Mack each limited the Mules to five hits during each game while the Hounds had 16 hits in the twin bill.

Women's Tennis Tops Catholic in Tight Match

The Greyhounds made the trip to Washington, D.C. on Saturday, April 5 to take on the Catholic University of America in Landmark Conference action. Trailing 2-1 after the doubles action, the Hounds swept the top three singles matches to take a lead. Freshman Selina Ocasio would earn the victory for Moravian with a straight sets win at fifth singles. Senior Melissa Follett had victories in both singles and doubles to lead the Greyhounds.
