Track and Field Heading to ECAC Outdoor Championships May 14-15

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College has qualified 25 student-athletes to compete at the 2015 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Track & Field Championships with 16 females and nine males set to travel to Springfield College in Massachusetts for events starting on Thursday, May 14 and continuing on Friday, May 15.

The Greyhounds continued to dominate the Landmark Conference Championships with the women winning their eighth consecutive title while the men won their seventh title at Susquehanna University on May 3.

On the women's side, senior Morgan Redmond and junior Corinne Glass are both competing in two events. Glass in the 200 and 400 meter while Redmond as an individual in the 100m hurdles and 400 IH and then as a quartet in the 4x400-meter relay. The group includes freshman Kaitlyn McDonnell and Casie Cronk and senior Alyssa Tallon with a qualifying time of 3:57.99.

Senior Emily Lambright and sophomore Meg Brockett will be competing in the 5,000-meter run while senior Devon Bedell is in the chase for the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The rest of the women's qualifiers are in the field events and will be led by senior Dana Fineman, who entered a qualifying height in the pole vault at 3.35 meters (10-11.75). Sophomore Kiara Bright is entered in the triple jump with a qualifying distance of 11.02 meters (36-2) while freshman Melissa Cheong is entered in the high jump with qualifying mark of 1.59 meters (5-2.5).

Freshman Ciara Stewart will compete in the shot put with a qualifying toss of 11.94 meters (39-2.25) while senior Jenny Kratch and sophomore Jackie Finnegan are both entered in the hammer throw with qualifying distances of 44.04 meters (144-6) for Finnegan and 45.91 meters (150-7) for Kratch, who is also competing in the discus after a 37.90 meter (124-4) qualifying toss. Freshman Nicole Capuano and Mary Kate Duncan both had qualifying marks in the javelin of 38.71 meters (127) for Capuano and 42.56 meters (139-7) for Duncan which is currently fifth.

On the men's side, three of Moravian's nine qualifiers enter the ECAC Championships within the top 10 mark in their events. Junior Ryan Karnopp enters the meet with the third-best height in the pole vault with a mark of 4.85 meters (15-11) while freshman Kyle Allison has the fourth-best mark in the javelin with a toss of 60.72 meters (199-2). Junior Gavin Bailey is seventh in the long jump with a leap of 7.19 meters (23-7.25).

Senior Chris Ossont and sophomore Kahron Walker are both entered in the triple jump with a qualifying mark of 13.71 meters (44-11.75) mark for Ossont and a 13.96 meters (45-9.75) mark for Walker, who is also competing in the high jump after a qualifying leap of 2.00 meters (6-6.75). Senior Parker Munson is competing in two events to round out the field athletes as he is entered in the shot put after a qualifying mark of 14.67 meters (48-1.75) and in the discus with a mark of 46.06 meters (151-1).

Moravian has a four runners set to compete with senior Dillon Farrell in the 10,000-meter run with a qualifying time of 31:05.80, sophomore Cory Taggert in the 800-meter run at 1:55.12, senior Alec Duncan in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:34.67 and junior Ryan Sickler in the 110-meter high hurdles.

The ECAC meet is the final chance to qualify for the 2015 NCAA Division III National Championships next weekend. The top 20 men and top 22 women in each event and the top 18 relay teams on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list will be headed to the national meet. Moravian currently has two throwers who qualify, Mary Kate Duncan is 14th and Allison is 12th in the javelin, along with Karnopp, who is 16th in the pole vault. The Greyhounds have several other athletes on the cusp that will look to edge their way in.
