Moravian Hosts Annual SAAC Kickoff Event in Johnston Hall

2015 SAAC Kickoff event

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College hosted its Annual Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Kickoff event in Johnston Hall Wednesday evening to begin the 2015-16 academic year and honor all of its student-athletes.

The night began with a short video presentation befor new Director of Athletics George Bright came to the podium. President Bryon L. Grigsby '90 also talked with the student-athletes. During his undergraduate career at Moravian, Grigsby was a member of the men's soccer team for two seasons and is still ranked second in the program's record book for shutouts in a season with seven in 1987.

Bright introduced the athletic department staff and talked about his plan for the future of Moravian athletics. Dr. Bob Brill of the psychology department and Moravian's Faculty Athletic Representative also spoke along with several other campus leaders.

Senior men's tennis player Matt Tuorto, treasurer of SAAC, introduced his fellow SAAC offices and spoke on SAAC and the projects the group does each year. Moravian's pep band also played during the event.

At the end of the evening, all freshmen and transfer student-athletes received a t-shirt from SAAC, and all of Moravian's student-athletes received their planners for the year provided by Moravian College's Blue & Grey Club. The coaching staff provided Philadelphia soft pretzels to finish off the night, and there were raffle prizes for the student-athletes.
