Greyhounds Kickoff 2015-16 Partnership with Team Nitschmann

2015-16 Nitschmann Kickoff event

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College kicked off its 2015-16 partnership with Nitschmann Middle School on Friday with 16 student-athletes, Assistant Director of Athletics Sara Steinman and mascot Amos spending part of the morning at Nitschman with the students.

Representing the Greyhounds were softball players Ashley Gindle and Kayla Kane, track & field competitors Tyler Dwyer and Beth Ann Davies, women's soccer student-athletes Emily Beavans and Jess Lawton, men's soccer players Hunter Ackerson and Saul Marcial, field hockey student-athlete Kyla Rodrigues, baseball players J.J. Jordan and Charles Savite, football competitors Anthony Orlando and Tre' Smith, women's basketball player Alexis Wright and cheerleaders Mary Spencer and Natalie Lukehart.

"It was nice to give back," commentend Orlando. "I went to Nitschmann and I remember being in those seats asking the same questions they were asking. From the minute they walked in, you could just tell how excited the kids were. To be looked up to, the way those kids did, is something special. I just wanted to make sure I emphasized school over sports. At that age, it is easy to lose sight of that."

Friday's event marked the first in a school-year long partnership between Moravian and Nitschmann that has been forged over the last few years. Later this year, the students from Nitschmann will walk to Moravian for an indoor track meet with the Moravian students in Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse.
