PRINCETON, N.J. (1/25/14) – The Princeton men's track & field team won five events as the team hosted the Tiger Open on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Jadwin Gym.

The Tigers were dominant in the field events winning four events: shot put, long jump, triple jump and high jump.

Senior Tom Hopkins won the long jump reaching 7.19 (23-7.25) on his second attempt. He also reached 7.14 and 7.17. Sophomore Jake Scinto was second with a jump of 7.11 (23-4). Junior Stephen Soerens also placed in the top five, jumping to 6.91 (22-8) for fourth place.

In the triple jump, senior Damon McLean claimed the win at 15.80 (51-10), hitting the mark on his third attempt.

Freshman Xavier Bledsoe reached a PR in the high jump to win the event. He cleared 2.04 (6-8.25) on his second attempt at that height and the first time he has jumped over two-meters. Senior Omar Jarrett was the runner-up at 2.01 (6-7) and Scinto was fourth at 1.98 (6-6).

Freshman Jared Bell claimed victory in the shot put with a throw of 15.91 (52-2.50)). In the weight throw, senior Jake Taylor was the runner-up throwing to 15.63 (51-3.50) while freshman Jong-Min Youn was third at 15.20 (49-10.50).

Senior David Coneway was third in the pole vault as he cleared 4.65 (15-3). Adam Bragg, who competed unattached, was second at 4.90 (16-00.75) behind a competitor from Apex Vaulting.

Sophomore Dré Nelson won the 60-meter dash at 6.95. Senior Tommaso Greenbaum was second at 7.05, followed by freshman Brent Albertson in fourth place at 7.19 and sophomore Greg Caldwell in fifth at 7.22. Caldwell was also the runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.32, while Albertson was third in the 200 at 22.88.

Junior Daniel McCord was the runner-up in the 400 as he clocked a 50.26, while sophomore Jabari Johnson was third at 50.41. Also placing third was sophomore Jordan Myers in the 500 with a time of 1:07.59.

In the final event of the day, the 4x400 relay an all-rookie relay finished second to the Garden State Track Club. Bryant Switzer, Greg Leeper, Ray Mennin and Albertson came around the oval in 3:21.88.
