Baseball Ranked No. 25 in Final 2014 ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Top 30 Poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College baseball team has been ranked No. 25 in the final American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Poll of the 2014 season.

The Greyhounds finished off on of the best seasons in school history this spring with a school-record 32 wins as part of a 32-12 record, and the program was nationally-ranked for the first time. Moravian was ranked No. 21 in both the ABCA poll and the D3baseball.com Top 25 as the squad earned its first-ever at-large berth into the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament and was the top seed in the Mid-Atlantic Regional. The Hounds also posted a 14-4 mark in the Landmark Conference regular season to earn the top seed in the conference tournament in early May.

"It is a tremendous honor for the program to be recognized as one of the top teams in the country after the season we put together," stated Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "It is a testament to the hard work and dedication that the players put in both on the field and off of it during the preseason. They should be honored to be part of the first team to be ranked in school history, and the season to finish with a national ranking."

Moravian won four games this season over teams ranked in the top 25 at the time they played including a pair of top 10 teams on Gillespie Field. The Greyhounds had a 5-0 record this season against teams in the final ABCA poll.

The Hounds received 32 points in the final D3baseball.com poll to finish three spots outside the top 25 after being as high as No. 21 twice this season.
