Morrin Selected to ABCA/Rawlings Mid-Atlantic All-Region 2nd Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Moravian College freshman pitcher Dan Morrin has been selected to the 2015 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Division III Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team.

Morrin, who was also named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team this month, helped the Greyhounds to 21-20 record this spring as the squad earned the second seed in the 2015 Landmark Conference Tournament with a 13-8 regular season slate in conference play. Moravian hosted and won a Landmark semifinal series versus third seed Elizabethtown College with Morrin tossing a complete game victory in the opening contest. The Blue & Grey also hosted fourth seed The Catholic University of America in the conference championship series with Morrin once again opening the series with a victory on the mound.

In his debut season with the Hounds, Morrin appeared in 11 games with 10 starts, and he posted a 6-1 record including four complete games and one shutout. Morrin had a 1.71 ERA for the spring with 12 walks and 41 strikeouts in 63.1 innings of action. In Landmark Conference action, Morrin was 3-1 in seven starts with a 1.55 ERA, 11 walks and 24 strikeouts in 40.2 innings. Morrin's 1.71 ERA is the sixth best in school history for a single season, and his six wins are tied for eighth most in a season while his .857 winning percentage is tied for fourth.

"Dan had one of the best years pitching at Moravian in the history of this program," commented Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "As a freshman, he was our number one starter, and pitched exceptionally well. Even his one loss was a three-hitter we lost 1-0. Dan showed great composure, competed extremely hard, and became a leader on the team by year's end. His ceiling moving forward is unlimited, and we foresee him getting even better. He has the stuff to be a strikeout guy, and I look forward to seeing him reach his full potential as we move forward. Pitching coaches Jon Lucas and Ben Hammel did a great job with him, and got him to focus on little things. It's a very rewarding award for Dan, and I have no doubt he will work even harder to respect this honor. He's a great kid, and very deserving of this recognition."

Morrin will continue to pitch this summer as a member of the Quakertown Blazers in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League. Morrin  was one of five Landmark Conference Players selected to the All-Region Teams and the only conference player above the Third Team.
