Moravian Baseball Hosting Strikeout Prostate Cancer Week April 4-9

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- On Saturday, April 9, the Moravian College baseball team will host their inaugural Strikeout Prostate Cancer "Blue Out" in an effort to raise money and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Foundation. The Greyhounds will take the field for a doubleheader against Landmark Conference opponent Drew University. Game 1 is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m., with game 2 to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opening contest at Gillespie Field at Moravian College. All fans are encouraged to wear light blue to the games as that is the official color of Prostate Cancer Awareness.

All of the proceeds from the event and week prior to will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. The baseball team has partnered with The Athletes for a Cure™ division of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. The Athletes for a Cure™ initiative is a fundraising and awareness program of the Prostate Cancer Foundation that helps athletes as they play, run, bike, walk or race for a cure. All money raised by Athletes for a Cure™ directly supports the Prostate Cancer Foundation by funding the world's most promising research for discovering better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer.

In addition to collecting donations at the game versus Drew, the baseball team will be selling t-shirts, 3/4 sleeve baseball style shirts and blue silicone bracelets in the Haupert Union Building each day from April 4-8. Shirts and bracelets can be purchased at the game on Saturday as well, and there will also be numerous raffles and silent auction items. Some of the prizes include tickets to MLB and MiLB games, NHL games, autographed paraphernalia and more.
