Savite Selected as ECAC DIII South Baseball Athlete of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. --- Moravian College senior first baseman Charles Savite has been selected as the ECAC Division III South Baseball Athlete of the Week for his performance the last week.

Savite, who has also been named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week and earned a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week in the past two days, contributed offensively as the Greyhounds post a 3-1 record with a Landmark Conference series sweep at Juniata College last weekend as Moravian clinched its eighth straight trip to the Landmark Conference Tournament.

Savite was 8-for-15 from the plate for a .533 average, and he added six extra base hits including three doubles and three home runs for a 1.333 slugging percentage. Savite crossed the plate six times and had eight RBIs to become just the second player in Moravian history to reach 150 career RBIs. He had three walks and was hit by a pitch for a .632 on-base percentage while adding a stolen base. Savite contributed 25 putouts from his first base position, and he added two assists last week.

Moravian, 18-18 overall, is slated to return to action on Wednesday, April 27 in a non-conference game at DeSales University beginning at 4:05 p.m. The contest is being aired live by Service Electric TV-2 Sports.
