BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Sunday, April 10 marked the inaugural Strikeout Prostate Cancer "Blue Out" for the Moravian College baseball team. The Greyhounds split their Landmark Conference doubleheader against Drew University at Gillespie Field with the Rangers taking game one, 9-8, and the Greyhounds winning the night cap, 11-2.
"My goal with the event was to make the day bigger than baseball," commented senior infielder Matthew Nesto who created and organized the first time event. "My father has been battling Prostate Cancer for a number of years now, so he was my inspiration for doing this. I kept finding out that the disease affected other guys on the team as well, so I thought it would be perfect to not only raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation, but awareness to the Moravian College community as well."

Gillespie Field was decorated in light blue on Sunday, the official color of Prostate Cancer awareness. The bleachers were packed with fans wearing their light blue "Strikeout Prostate Cancer" shirts while all Moravian baseball players and coaches were seen with light blue ribbons on their hats, specialized shoelaces, light blue tape and arm sleeves, and their custom ¾ sleeve "Strikeout Prostate Cancer" shirts for pre-game.
The total amount is still rising as donations keep coming in, but as of now the team surpassed their goal of donating $5,000 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and currently sit at $5,500 raised for the "Strikeout Prostate Cancer" event.
