Gaetaniello, Kulig & Jacoby Named to Landmark Baseball All-Conference Teams

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College baseball team has had three student-athletes selected to the 2017 Landmark All-Conference teams with senior center fielder Anthony Gaetaniello and sophomore third baseman Evan Kulig earning spots on the First Team and sophomore pitcher Rhett Jacoby named to the Second Team.

Gaetaniello, who was on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team last spring, led the Greyhounds this season with a .404 batting average as he went 55-of-136 to go along with 43 runs, nine doubles, a triple, a homer, 15 RBIs, 17 walks, a .481 on-base percentage and a .5-7 slugging percentage. Gaetaniello was 15-for-18 on stolen base attempts this season, and he completed his career with a school record 65 stolen bases. Gaetaniello also became the fourth player to reach the 200-hit milestone as he completed this career with exactly 200 hits.

"Anthony had a tremendous senior year," stated Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "If not for games being cancelled due to weather, Anthony would have had even more hits, runs, etc. He battled back from knee surgery, and still had a great year."

Kulig moved from shortstop to third base this spring for the Hounds and had a .336 batting average. He was 40-of-119 with 23 runs, ten doubles, a home run, 27 RBIs, 11 walks, a .403 on-base percentage and a .445 slugging percentage. Kulig also made nine appearances on the mound with a 3.18 ERA, a 1-0 record, two saves and nine strikeouts in 11.1 innings of action.

"Evan really started to come into his own this year," Engelhardt said. "He developed into a great defensive third baseman, and solidified that corner. His offense just keeps getting better. If not for some serious injuries that he played with, his season could have been much better. We look forward to watching Evan grow over his final two seasons."

Jacoby, who was on the Landmark All-Conference First Team in 2016 as a freshman, posted a 5-0 record in 12 appearances this season, and he had a 3.26 ERA and 52 strikeouts in a 60.2 innings of action. Jacoby is already 13th in school history with 108 career strikeouts in 113.1 innings on the mound.

"Rhett had a good year," commented Engelhardt. "He didn't always have the run support, but given his ability, he was our ace. The pitching in our conference is very good. To be named Second Team with the quality in conference is indeed an honor for Rhett. With some more growth, he has the potential to be one of the Landmark's best over the next two years."
