Jacoby Named to ACBL All-Star Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College rising junior pitcher Rhett Jacoby has been named to the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League Wolff Division All-Star Team for his performance so far this summer with the Allentown Railers.

The 2017 ACBL All-Star game is slated for Monday, July 17 with first pitch slated for 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Park in Quakertown.

Jacoby heads into the All-Star game ranked fourth in the ACBL with a 2.43 ERA, and he has helped Allentown to an 18-8 record and first place in the ACBL. He has made five appearances with four starts, and Jacoby is 3-1 on the summer with one save. He has recorded 36 strikeouts and allowed just two walks in 29.2 innings of action. Jacoby is tied with Moravian teammate senior Dan Morrin for third in the league with 36 strikeouts.

Jacoby, who was named to the 2017 Landmark All-Conference Second Team this past spring and was on the Landmark All-Conference First Team in 2016 as a freshman, posted a 5-0 record in 12 appearances in 2017 for the Greyhounds, and he had a 3.26 ERA and 52 strikeouts in a 60.2 innings of action. Jacoby is already 13th in school history with 108 career strikeouts in 113.1 innings on the mound.

Jacoby is one of two Landmark Conference student-athletes to be named to the ACBL All-Star Teams with senior third baseman Colby Smith of Elizabethtown College being selected to the Kaiser All-Star Team while playing for the Jersey Generals.

The Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League was founded in 1966 by some of the leading baseball figures in the Metropolitan New York Area. The purpose of the ACBL is to provide college baseball players with an opportunity to improve themselves and gain the kind of exposure necessary to continue onto a career in professional baseball.

The ACBL abides by NCAA rules and regulations regarding participation of student athletes in summer college leagues and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The ACBL is a charter member of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball (NACSB).
