Hounds Drop Landmark Series Finale at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College baseball team dropped the final game in a Landmark Conference series, falling to host Elizabethtown College, 10-3, Monday afternoon.

The Greyhounds had eight hits with junior designated hitter/pitcher Evan Kulig going 2-for-5. Kulig also made his first start of the season on the mound, allowing five runs on eight hits with a strikeout in 4.1 innings. Junior Brendon Caraway tossed two-thirds of an inning with two runs on one hit and a walk while junior Tyler Caraway pitched two innings with a run on three hits and two walks to go with a strikeout. Sophomore Connor Morro tossed the final inning with two runs, one earned, on two hits and two walks.

Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the top of the first inning. Sophomore center fielder Carmine Palummo reached on an error to start the game, and he scored on an RBI single by junior left fielder Mike Mittl.

The Blue Jays tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first, and Elizabethtown took the lead with six runs in the fifth inning. The Blue Jays added another run in the seventh frame and two more in the eighth.

The Blue and Grey finished off the scoring with two runs in the top of the ninth inning. Senior pinch hitter David Wodzisz led off the frame with a single, and he raced home on an RBI single by freshman pinch hitter Michael Miceli. Junior third baseman Joey Ferolie followed with a double and Palummo walked to load the bases. Sophomore second baseman Ian Csencsits chased Miceli across the plate with an RBI sacrifice fly.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Friday, March 30 when they host Juniata College in the opening game of a Landmark Conference series with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Gillespie Field in Bethlehem.
