Moravian Falls to Keystone in Non-Conference Action at Gillespie Field

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College baseball squad fell to visiting Keystone College, 10-4, in non-conference action Thursday at Gillespie Field in the third of four meetings between the schools this season.

How It Happened

  • The Giants jumped out to a 2-0 run in the top of the second inning
  • The Greyhounds answered with a run in the bottom half of the frame as junior third baseman David Bertolotti drew a leadoff walk and eventually raced home on a wild pitch
  • Keystone would add four runs in the top of the sixth to push its advantage to 6-1
  • Moravian scored run in the bottom of the eighth inning when Bertolotti hit an RBI ground out to score senior first baseman Brett Moyer
  • The Giants plated four runs in the top of the ninth to make it a 10-2 game
  • The Hounds scored the final two runs in the bottom of the ninth when Moyer connected on a two-RBI single that scored pinch hitters junior Robert Roman and senior Michael Miceli

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had six hits in the contest with two coming off the bat of senior outfielder Thomas Philipps
  • The Hounds had one extra base hit with freshman pinch hitter Cole Cherkas connecting on a double in his only plate appearance
  • The Greyhounds sent five pitchers to the mound with senior starter Kyle Serman recording two strikeouts in his two innings of work. Sophomore Tyler Valentine also had one strikeout in three innings for the Blue & Grey. Freshman David Ciaccio tossed two innings while senior Kevin Brandt and freshman Cameron Cooper each pitched one inning
