BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College cheerleading squad has selected senior flyer/base Molly Caruso and senior base Kayla Oakes as its captains for the 2017 season.

"I am so happy to have Kayla and Molly as our team captains this year," commented fourth-year Head Coach Ashley Melchionna, a 2010 Moravian graduate. "They both bring not only their knowledge and experience to the team but are also great leaders. I am excited to get this season started and continue onto a winning competition season."

Caruso and Oakes are excited for the upcoming season beginning with football before moving onto basketball and finally competitions.

"I'm very confident in my team that we're going to succeed in every way possible this year," Oakes said. "We are all strong and talented individuals and that's what will make our team great. Having the position of captain, I will be sure to do everything for the better of my teammates. It's an honor to be chosen as a leader for my team and I couldn't be more excited for this upcoming season."

Moravian will perform for the first time in the 2017 season on Thursday, August 31 when the football travels for a non-conference game at King's College at 7:00 p.m.
