Negron & Orlando Named to D3football.com Team of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Moravian College freshman running back Chris Negron and sophomore defensive back Anthony Orlando have been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week presented by Scoutware for their performances in the Greyhounds' 41-21 win over Gettysburg College this past Saturday.

Negron posted a career-best 251 yards on 37 attempts, the fourth highest single game total in Moravian history and the second straight game he has gone over 200 yards on the ground after 218 versus Franklin & Marshall College on October 26. Negron is also just the eighth running back in the 30-year history of the Centennial Conference to rush for over 200 yards in back-to-back games, and his 251 yards are the third-most by a freshman in conference history. Negron scored a pair of touchdowns against Gettysburg on runs of nine and 18 yards, and he added one reception for four yards.

Negron passed Tim Barlok's Moravian freshman rushing record of 665 yards early in the game last Saturday, and Negron now has 869 yards for the season in his debut season. The Greyhounds rushed for 424 yards on 75 carries against the Bullets, the first time that Moravian had run for over 400 yards in a game since November 8, 2003 when the squad ran for 415 yards at Albright College.

"Chris seemed to get stronger as the game went on," stated head coach Jeff Pukszyn. "He had excellent vision all game, and did a great job hitting the holes.  His first touchdown was an amazing run."

Orlando led the Moravian defense Saturday by making a game-high 15 tackles which included 12 solo stops, three tackles for loss, a sack and a pass breakup. Orlando has led the Greyhounds in tackles in three of eight games this fall since transferring to the school from Colgate University, and he has made more than 10 tackles in four contests this season.

"Anthony continues to play at an elite level," Pukszyn said. "He made tackles all over the field and was a force stopping Gettysburg's run game. He's an aggressive tackler who's playing with lots of confidence."

Moravian will close out its 2013 home season on Saturday, November 9 with a Centennial Conference game versus Juniata College kicking off at 12:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field on Senior Day.
