Orlando Selected to D3football.com All-South Region 2nd Team

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Sophomore defensive back Anthony Orlando of the Moravian College football team has been named to the 2013 D3football.com All-South Region Second Team.

Orlando, who was also honored on the All-Centennial Conference First Team this fall, started all 10 games for the Greyhounds in his first season with squad after transferring from NCAA Division I Colgate University. Orlando was second on the team with 103 tackles including a team-leading 64 solo stops. Orlando and junior linebacker Kevin Bracken became the first Greyhound teammates to record more than 100 tackles in a season since 1999, and 2013 was the first time that Moravian had a player register 100 tackles since 2002.

Orlando added five tackles for loss, two sacks, a pass break-up, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries. Two of his fumble recoveries were returned for touchdowns, including a 45-yard return versus Franklin & Marshall College and a 44-yard run back against Gettysburg College, both helping the Greyhounds to wins in those contests.

"Anthony is a solid all-around football player," stated third-year Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn. "He has natural instincts and is a physical force on the field. His best football is still ahead of him, and we are excited about that with him on the field for two more seasons. His selection to the All-Region team is well deserved."

Orlando is sixth Moravian football player to earn D3football.com All-Region honors since the website first started selecting All-Region teams in 2005. This year, there were a record 952 nominations across the country including 257 in the South region. Each region had 75 players named to three All-Region teams. The All-South Region teams included 10 players from the Centennial Conference.

The 2013 All-Region teams are presented by Salem, Virginia's Championship City. Salem will play host to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl for the 21st consecutive season on Dec. 20.
