Redmond Earns Honors from ECAC & D3football.com

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Freshman running back/kick returner Eli Redmond of the Moravian College football team has been named the Corvais ECAC Division III Southwest Special Teams Player of the Week, and Redmond also earned a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week Presented by Scoutware for his performance in the Greyhounds' 28-7 win over McDaniel College at Rocco Calvo Field this past Saturday.

Redmond received the opening kickoff with his feet on the goal line and returned the ball the length of the field only being touched avoiding the McDaniel kicker for a touchdown just 13 seconds into the game. Redmond added another return in the final two minutes of 13 yards, going down untouched as the Greyhounds looked to run out the clock to improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2008.

The Greyhounds' coaching staff moved Redmond to running back last week after an injury knocked out Moravian's back-up running back. Redmond, who had last played the position as a junior in high school, responded by leading the Greyhounds with 109 yards on 19 carries, and he had runs of 32 and 25 yards as part of his afternoon.

Moravian is slated to action on Saturday, September 20 in the team's first road trip of the year as the Greyhounds head to No. 14 Johns Hopkins University for a Centennial Conference game kicking off at 12:00 p.m. at Homewood Field in Baltimore.
