Negron Named to D3football.com Team of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Moravian College junior running back Chris Negron has been selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week Presented by Scoutware for his performance in the Greyhounds' 42-10 win versus Juniata College this past Saturday.

Negron, who was also the Centennial Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, picked up 226 yards on just 18 carries. He scored twice, once on the ground and once through the air as Negron grabbed four receptions for 29 yards as he helped the Greyhounds win their sixth consecutive game and improved to 8-1 for just the second time in school history. Negron's 226 yards is the second-best single game of his career, and his 12.5 yards per carry is the third-highest in Moravian history.

Negron, who was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the second time this season, posted the two longest runs of his career with an 87 yard run in the first quarter and a 69-yard run in the second quarter. He found the end zone on a seven yard reception in the first quarter and on a one-yard run in the third quarter for the Hounds' final points of the game and his 14th rushing touchdown of the fall.

On just his second carry of the game, Negron became just the second player in school history to surpass 3,000 career yards, and he now has 3,219 yards on 618 carries, third in the record books. Negron has run for 1,309 yards on 243 attempts this fall, ranking second and third for a single season. He has added 14 rushing touchdowns this season and a total of 90 points, both second in the Hounds' record books. Negron is up to 33 career touchdowns and 198 points as he is second all-time in touchdowns and third in scoring.

"Chris has put in a lot of hard work in the weight room and off the field this past off season and since camp started," Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn said. "His work ethic pays off come Saturday afternoon, and he is having a special season. Chris has really worked on being patient and waiting for the offensive line to seal there blocks. He showed that patience on Saturday, especially on the two long runs as he waited for the hole to open up before bursting into the open field."
