BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College football team is playing in the postseason for the first time since 2010 as the Greyhounds will play at Delaware Valley University on Saturday, November 21 in the Inaugural Centennial Conference-Middle Atlantic Conference Bowl Series with kickoff slated for 12:00 p.m.
The Centennial Conference and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced on November 5, 2015 that they are partnering for two postseason football games between member institutions. The Inaugural Centennial-MAC Bowl Series will involve the top two teams from each conference that are not selected to the NCAA Division III Championship.
The top team from each conference that is not selected to the NCAA Division III Championship will host the second best team from the opposing conference not moving on to NCAAs in one game of the series. Delaware Valley, 8-2 overall and 7-2 in the MAC, earned the right to host with a head-to-head win over Stevenson University, which will play at Muhlenberg College in the other CC-MAC Bowl Series game after defeating the Greyhounds on Saturday to earn the head-to-head win as both schools were also 8-2 overall and 7-2 in Centennial Conference action.
The two conferences will also support the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) partnership with Special Olympics by donating 25 percent of ticket revenue generated during the Bowl Series to the organization. Giving back to local and regional communities not only adds to the comprehensive learning component of Division III, but also provides a venue for passion and service. Tickets will be $5 for adults and $2 for students and there are no comp tickets. Special Olympic athletes and children under 6 will be admitted for free. There will also be short-sleeved gray Bowl Series logo t-shirts for sale at $12 at each game.
For the Greyhounds, Saturday is a chance to become just the second team in the 91-year history of the program to win nine games in a season. The 2015 squad is one of five teams to win eight games and just the second to start a season with an 8-1 record. The other 8-1 squad was the 1988 team that finished at 10-2.
