Orlando & Snyder-Scipio Named to 2015 Fall Academic All-Centennial Team

LANCASTER, Pa. --- Senior defensive back Anthony Orlando and junior wide receiver Jalen Snyder-Scipio of the Moravian College football team have been named to the 2015 Fall Academic All-Centennial Team.

Starting this fall for the first-time, the Centennial Conference is recognizing an Academic All-Centennial Team. To be nominated for the Academic All-Centennial Team a student-athlete must receive both All-Conference and Academic Honor Roll honors. This fall, 63 students were recognized for achieving this outstanding accomplishment.

The duo served as co-captains for the Greyhounds this fall while helping Moravian to an 8-3 record including just the second 8-1 start in school history and a berth in the Inaugural Centennial-Middle Atlantic Conference Bowl Series.

Orlando was named to the Centennial All-Conference First Team last week after making 71 tackles in 11 games including two tackles for loss, three interceptions, four passes defended and one fumble recovery. Orlando was also on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the second straight year, and he was selected to the Centennial All-Conference First Team in 2013 and the Second Team last fall. In his three seasons at Moravian, Orlando made 225 tackles with 147 solo stops in 29 games, and he also contributed 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, four interceptions, 10 passes defended, four fumble recoveries with two returned for touchdowns and one forced fumble.

Snyder-Scipio was honored on the Centennial All-Conference Second Team this fall after grabbing a career-high 46 passes for 487 yards and four touchdowns, and he also made the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the second straight year. Snyder-Scipio ranks third in school history with 132 catches in 31 career games, and he is eighth in career receiving yards with 1,482, and tied for sixth in career touchdown receptions with 13.

"Both Anthony and Jalen are outstanding young men that give 100 percent on and off the field and it is evident by their body of work in the classroom, their GPAs and their leadership as being selected captains by their peers on the football field," commented Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn. "I couldn't be more proud of these two guys. They conduct them selves very well on and off the field. I think they stand for what Moravian College stands for, and we are excited to get these guys another honor especially Anthony who will be graduating in a few months. Fortunately we have Jalen back next year to continue to show his academics in the classroom and athleticism on the football field."
