Zambelli Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College sophomore defensive back Nick Zambelli has been named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Football Team for NCAA Division III schools in District IV.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 43 Greyhounds named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans®.

By making the All-District First Team, Zambelli is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced on November 29. There are a total of 14 student-athletes from the Centennial Conference on Academic All-District Teams.

Zambelli is majoring in Economics and Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics, and he has a 4.00 GPA. This season, Zambelli is second on the Greyhounds' defense with 50 tackles including 29 solo stops to go with a team-high three interceptions, and he has also added four passes defended. Zambelli, who is in his second season as a starter at Moravian, has contributed 87 tackles with 57 solo stops, four interceptions and six passes defended in 19 career games.

"This is a great honor for Nick," commented Head Football Coach Jeff Pukszyn. "He is the definition of student-athlete. His work ethic, character, and leadership are the same in classroom as well as on the football field. I am proud of Nick, and excited to see his dedication to being a student-athlete has been recognized. "

Moravian, 4-4 overall and 3-4 in Centennial Conference action, will play its final road game of the 2016 regular season on Saturday, November 5 when the Greyhounds travel to Juniata College for a Centennial Conference game kicking off at 12:00 p.m. at Goodman Field at Knox Stadium in Huntingdon.
