Hounds Drop Non-Conference Match to King's College

Bethlehem, Pa.--- The Moravian College field hockey team took a tough 3-1 loss against non-conference King's College on Wednesday afternoon at Betty Prince Field.

"It was disappointing, I thought we could have had another victory today," stated Head Coach Amy Endler. "We didn't take advantage of our opportunities when we had them. We had 11 corners in the first half and didn't score and allowed them to score twice."

Endler continued "I'm glad we got so many corners because we had been working on that in practice the past couple of days, but we were unable to capitalize and hopefully we can learn from this for Saturday when we start conference play."

The Greyhounds outshot the Monarchs in the first half and forced 11 penalty corners to their six. Unfortunately, they were unable to capitalize and allowed two goals, the first goal came in the 23rd minute and the second in the 30th minute, finding the Hounds trailing 2-0 headed into half.

The second half started with another goal for King's in the 36th minute, but the Blue and Grey countered quickly in the 38th minute to cut the lead 3-1. Junior forward Kelly O'Donnell found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season with a pass from senior midfielder Catherine Duffin.

Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Kanyuk had seven saves in the match and sophomore midfielder/defender Shauna Poling recorded a defensive save.

The Greyhounds open the Landmark Conference on Saturday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. against Goucher College at Betty Prince Field.
