Poling and Greyhounds Ranked Nationally in Defensive Saves

Indianapolis, Ind.--- The Moravian College field hockey team is ranked in the NCAA Field Hockey Division III statistics this week.

The Greyhounds are tied for 15th in Divison III field hockey leader boards for defensive saves with a total of 13 defensive saves. Sophomore defender Shauna Poling is tied for ninth among the individual leaders with seven defensive saves.

"Shauna has been a great addition to our team and her play on the back line has been tremendous," commented Head Coach Amy Endler. "She is a smart player knowing where to position herself in order to keep the opponent out of the circle.  Shauna has excellent eye hand coordination which is a key attribute when you need to make a defensive save."

In field hockey, a defensive save is awarded to a player that keeps a shot out of the cage that has gotten past the goalie.

Moravian welcomes Marywood University on Thursday, October 23 in a non-conference match at 4:00 p.m. at Betty Prince Field.
