Field Hockey Opens on September 1 on the Road

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team is scheduled to open the 2016 season with an away match at DeSales University on Thursday, September 1 at 7:00 p.m.

This season the Blue and Grey will play all eight of their home games on the new turf field know as John Makuvek Field. The field is just about completed as Moravian converts the natural grass HUB Quad to the synthetic Makuvek Field.

The Greyhounds will open their home season on Thursday, September 8 by playing the home opener under the new lights of Makuvek Field at 7:00 p.m. versus Immaculata University. The Greyhounds will head out for a road match at William Paterson University before returning home for a three-match home stand on September 12, 17 and 21 versus Wilkes University, FDU-Florham and King's (Pa.) College with the Wilkes contest also under the lights.

The Greyhounds will open Landmark Conference play on Saturday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the University of Scranton, and the Hounds will play their final home night match on September 28 versus Albright College at 7:00 p.m. Moravian will play the conference home opener on Saturday, October 1 at 1:00 p.m. versus Drew University.

After a road match at Marywood University on October 2, the Blue and Grey will host Goucher College in a Landmark Conference match on October 8 at 1:00 p.m. Moravian then hits the road for two conference matches at Elizabethtown College and The Catholic University of America on October 12 and 15.

The Hounds final home game will be on Saturday, October 22 at 1:00 p.m. versus Juniata College in Landmark Conference action. The Greyhounds will close out the season on the road with games against rival Muhlenberg College on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. and play their final regular season match on Saturday, October 29 versus conference opponent Susquehanna University at 1:00 p.m.

The 2016 Landmark Conference Tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 2.
